Harmon Sylvester "Ves" Watson

Harmon Sylvester "Ves" Watson is the second son of Alfred Mobley Watson and Elvira Armstrong. Ves was born in in Burnt Corn, Alabama on August 4, 1920. "Ves" was about 15 or 16 years old when his father suddenly died on July 23, 1936 and he was raised by his brother Joseph Lee "Joe" Watson and mother Elvira. He attended the Puryearville School in Burnt Corn. He fathered a child out of wedlock with ___________ Miller and they named the child Carl Helbert. Carl was born on September3, 1943. During World War II, Ves joined the U.S. Navy on October 7, 1943 when he was 23 years old. Ves met and married Goldie Smith-Johnson and they lived in Baltimore, Maryland and live there for many years. Ves and Goldie had six children before they divorced. Little is known about the children except their names:John H. was born November 26, 1955, Michael born October 9, 1947, Phillip L. (was December 13, 1948), and not sure when Angela, Richard, Harmon were born. Ves then moved to Pensacola, Florida where he was employed by the Federal Government with the Navy. His job later transferred him to Cocoa Beach, Florida and after a few years then on to Miami, Florida. While in Miami, he fathered another child with Maggie Bell Jackson by the name of Bennie Jackson. After retiring from the government he moved back to Burnt Corn and lived there for several years until his death on July 17,1985.
